BLACKWOOD VALLEY
Blackwood Valley produces Chardonnays with a generous and rich style of fruity peach and melon flavours. Although small, the Reisling plantations prove the suitability of variety in the region. Cabernet Sauvignon displays rich and ripe black currant and dark chocolate flavours and excellent aging potential. Shiraz plantations are rapidly increasing in the region.
MARGARET RIVER
Margaret River is renowned for its white wines especially Chardonnay and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Cabernet Sauvignon is the wine on which the Margaret River region built its reputation. Blessed with the perfect natural environment for grape growing and over 120 wine producers, Margaret River is regarded as potentially one of the greatest wine growing regions in the world.
PERTH HILLS
Best wines from Perth Hills region are chardonnays. Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlots are often blended and produced by the vast majority of the wineries in the region. They are reliable wines that are full flavoured with chocolate, berry and earthy tones. Shiraz, as in many warmer regions are very fruity.
SWAN DISTRICT
Swan District is at the warmer end of the climatic spectrum which helps it to produce full flavoured and full bodied white wines, particularly Chenin Blanc, Verdhelo and Chardonnay. Also has a large plantation of Shiraz which proves it can produce good quality wines in any climate.
